  • Earthstation1: The Radio Sounds Showcase
Here is a collection of RealAudio and Truespeech radio clips from history (including the Hindenburg crash and a number from WW II), comedy, commercials, dramas and more. There's a fun page of classic radio and TV music themes as well. It is well worth spending time here.
  • Flapper Station
Rick Botti writes 'This is your connection into the decade known as the Roaring Twenties.' This site uses a paradigm of a railroad station with depots that take you off to cars, music, movies and radio shows of the decade. The radio shows page is a set of links that no doubt will grow in the future. It is a novel presentation approach that we have not seen elsewhere. Hmmm... how did the car radios work back then? We wonder.
  • Gunsmoke
Mention the show Gunsmoke and most people think of the long-running television series starring James Arness as Matt Dillon. But we didn't know that the show first aired as a radio drama on the CBS Network -- from 1952 to 1961 -- with William Conrad as Matt Dillon. There is a link to more than 150 episodes to listen to.
  • Nostalgia Pages, The
From the home page you have the options of looking at pages about old time radio conventions, greetings from stars of yesterday, a page that rotates old time radio shows available in RealAudio and MPEG III format, and radio/television show logs encompassing collections not found elsewhere on the Internet.
  • The Old Time Radio Script Collection
An interesting sidebar to listening to old radio shows: 'As periodic presenters of Old-Time Radio show recreations, we have long sought out scripts from the Golden Age of audio drama. (Roughly speaking, 1930-1960.) They turn out to be few and far between. Why? Surely every radio thespian didn't drop his or her pages directly onto the floor to be swept into the trash after the broadcast. And yet, few survive.'
  • Original Old Time Radio WWW Pages
A potpourri of old time radio sources, FAQs, catalogs of radio programs and equipment catalogs, photographs and more. There's a RealAudio page too. You can spend some time on this site…
  • Radio Days
Many sound clips and explanations from the days of old: timelines, news, comedy, drama and more categorized to allow the user to move to the area of choice and explore history with a "soundbite". The site usesRealAudio files.
  • Radio Golden Years
Radio Golden Years sells a collection of public domain radio broadcasts from the golden age of radio (the 1920's to 1950's). Each broadcast is carefully restored and re-mastered from the original recordings and copied to tape or CD.
  • Science Fiction on Radio
Science fiction on radio dates back to Buck Rogers in 1932. This page compiled by Jerry Sterns is a good overview of what was on the radio in the past and present (as late as 1989), including such things as 'Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" aired on the BBC.
  • The Shadow Vaults
Unlike the commercial Web site The Shadow's Sanctum, Chris Atherton shows his interest of The Shadow as a fan. There are RealAudio files, and information on pictures, movies and pulp fiction herein. Atherton tells us the site is undergoing constant upgrading.
  • Wayback Old Time Radio
A variety of shows are available in the MPEG3 format, including Gildersleeve and Johnny Dollar.
  • Yesterday USA
'Yesterday USA (founded in 1983) is a radio station that broadcasts actual radio shows from the 1920s - 1950s, 24 hours a day... via the Internet, C-band satellite dishes, some cable systems, and various low-power (USA domestic) AM & FM stations!' To fans of all ages, Old Time Radio means Jack Benny... Sgt. Preston of the Yukon... The Shadow... Lum 'n Abner... Gene Autry... Amos 'n Andy... Big Bands... in short, the dramas, comedies, mysteries and music that delighted young and old alike during the Golden Days of Radio.
